Tribal Development
We are deeply committed to uplifting the tribal, indigenous and forest fringe communities. Through a combination of livelihood support, education, healthcare, and cultural preservation initiatives, we strive to improve the quality of life for these marginalized groups. Our holistic approach ensures that their unique traditions are respected while promoting their integration into the broader society.

Key Interventions
Livelihood Enhancement
We promote livelihood activities for tribal communities. These initiatives aim to create sustainable income opportunities. We have trained individuals in the use of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP), helping them optimize local natural resources. Additionally, we have supported tribal families in starting poultry farming and assisted others in adopting apiculture as alternative livelihood activities.
Skill Building
To empower the tribal community, we offer various employable skill-building trainings. These communities often lag in education and soft skills, which limits their opportunities and keeps them reliant on traditional forest-based livelihoods. In collaboration with CSR and other agencies, we provide skill and capacity-building events, including training as General Duty Assistants (GDA), in home industries, and the use of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP). After training, we help participants secure employment in related sectors.
Solar Village
In collaboration with the donor agencies, we have provided solar lamp systems to 150 tribal families. This initiative has not only enhanced their living conditions by providing reliable and eco-friendly lighting but has also contributed to a significant improvement in their daily life.
Research and Cultural Preservation
​SCODWES has created a platform for research aspirants to explore the rich cultural heritage of tribal communities. In collaboration with the Department of Tribal Studies, Kannada University, Hampi, we organize workshops that offer exposure to the indigenous tribal communities of Uttara Kannada, fostering a deeper understanding of their traditions and challenges. Furthermore, we are committed to preserving their cultural heritage by organizing festivals and workshops that celebrate traditional practices.
Healthcare Facilities
Tribal communities often encounter significant barriers in accessing formal healthcare services due to a lack of awareness and limited access to timely medical care. To address this, we have established tribal service points where our Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) deliver essential medical care. We also organize general and specialized healthcare camps specifically for the tribal community.
